Geek & Entrepreneur
Most importantly I am a husband to an absolutely stunning wife and father to three amazing children that challenge me every single day. I’m not the worst at either, but I am far from the best. I strive for work/life integration, lifestyle design, health, and wellness all in the context of being a ‘geek.’
In addition to technology, I have a vast interest in physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial health. I focus on learning anything I can implement in my life to help me become a better husband, father, and well-rounded individual.
Everything I learn and utilize day-to-day must first have relevance to what truly matters in this life. If optimization and process improvement doesn’t move the needle here, it’s not worth the effort. I strive to design a lifestyle that fills the most squares with the least resistance.
FEDERAL SERVICE
I enlisted in the South Dakota Air National Guard (United States Air Force) in 2002 as a Communications Computer Systems Operator. I spent my entire military career in cyber operations and cyber surety. Toward the end of my career, as a Master Sergeant (MSgt) I was assigned as the Network Control Center (NCC) Shop Supervisor.
As a military member, I worked full-time as a General Schedule (GS) employee for almost 12 years. Eight of those years for the Department of Defense (DOD) and four for the Department of Interior (DOI) at the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
Since leaving federal employment I have leveraged my experience to work as a Federal Contractor to the U.S. Navy while at General Dynamic Information Technology (GDIT) and the U.S. Air Force while employed by Effectual.
